So You Thought I Only Wrote Novels?
I didn’t want to put my creative writing education to waste! My novels started as movies in my head, and so I decided to write the movies for them. These are now Award-Winning adaptations. Will the movies be better than the books? I hope to find out some day!
BACKSTORY
When guests would come over, I thought I was the leader of my kid entertainment unit. I would gather my younger siblings, get our crayons and paper, and we would write plays and rehearse musical numbers under sheet tents held together by clothespins. Guests were polite, but after about 10 minutes, my mom would send us back to our rooms. Looking back, I realize there was relief in their demeanor that our performance had ended. The ultimate storyteller, though, is my mom. She would sit on the couch slowly trying to read a book while we interrogated her about Santa. Why did we get IOUs for January from Santa? How does he get in if we don’t have a chimney? Why are there price tags on these toys? Why are they wrapped just like our birthday presents? My mom would lick her finger, slowly turn a page from her thriftshop book, and come up with an amazing story that placated our young minds. I continue in that tradition.
